Because this drink has both peaty Scotch and rosemary, I named it after the baseball player Pete Rose, whose nickname (as convoluted as things are in baseball sometimes) was Charlie Hustle. I am a huge baseball fan, but I would take this drink to the ball game over peanuts and Cracker Jack any day!
- 1 1/2 oz. blended Scotch
- 1/2 oz. smoky peaty Islay Scotch, like Ardbeg
- 1/2 oz. green chartreuse
- 1/2 oz. maple syrup
- 1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
- top with soda
- garnish: sprig of fresh rosemary
Shake all but the soda in a shaker filled with ice. Strain and pour over fresh ice in a Collins glass and top with soda. Add a spring of fresh rosemary. For a bit more smoke, you can smote some dried rosemary and smudge the inside of the glass you are using when it’s empty.
