Lamb Down Under

Anita Lo will soon be flying off to Australia for a whirlwind 10 days visiting lamb and beef producing regions and sampling the booming dining scene in Sydney. The chef/owner of Annisa in New York City was the grand prize winner of Winter Wonderlamb by Australian Lamb. Her winning dish, Australian lamb with chickpeas, harissa, and black sesame, was picked by a panel of judges, including Beverly Stephen (Food Arts executive editor), Dan Myers (The Daily Meal editor), and Sara Lehman (Somm in the City, blogger).
Katherine Fuchs’ (chef, The Thirsty Koala) grilled Australian herb- and wattle seed–crusted lamb lollies with caramelized pumpkin earned 1,200 votes and won the fan favorite on Facebook. Her cash prize is $500.
The contest was exclusively for restaurants in New York City. Entrants were required to feature Australian lamb for six weeks. A new contest is now underway to find the best Australian lamb dish in the Miami area.
